2 Corinthians 4

Paul’s Apostolic Ministry

1 Therefore, since we have this aministry, as we breceived mercy, we cdo not lose heart, 2but we have renounced the dthings hidden because of shame, not walking in trickery nor edistorting the word of God, but by the open proclamation of the truth fcommending ourselves to every person’s conscience in the sight of God. 3And even if our ggospel is hveiled, it is veiled

Lit age
world has nblinded the minds of the unbelieving so that
Or the light...image of God, will not shine upon them
they will not see the plight of the gospel of the qglory of Christ, who is the rimage of God.
5For we sdo not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants
Two early mss through Jesus
on account of Jesus.
6For God, who said, “ uLight shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has vshone in our hearts to give the wLight of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in
Or earthenware containers
,
yearthen containers, so that the extraordinary greatness of zthe power will be of God and not from ourselves;
8we are aaafflicted in every way, but not abcrushed; acperplexed, but not despairing; 9 adpersecuted, but not aeabandoned; afstruck down, but not destroyed; 10 agalways carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that ahthe life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who live are constantly being handed over to death because of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12So death works in us, but life in you.

13 But having the same aispirit of faith, according to what is written: “ ajI believed, therefore I spoke,” we also believe, therefore we also speak, 14knowing that He who akraised the Lord Jesus alwill also raise us with Jesus, and will ampresent us with you. 15For all things are anfor your sakes, so that grace, having

apspread to more and more people, will cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we aqdo not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our arinner person is asbeing renewed day by day. 17For our momentary, atlight affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18while we aulook not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
